Birth Name: Glenn Martin Christopher Francis Quinn
Birth Date: 28th May, 1970
Birth Place: Dublin, Ireland
Death: 3rd December, 2002
Age at the time of demise: 32

Glenn Martin was raised in Cabinteely, County Dublin and in his teens, used to play drums in band, along with working on local stage productions. He studied at the Clonkeen College and in 1988, shifted to California in the Long Beach area with his sisters, Louisa and Sonya, and mother, Bernadette. Here he did various odd jobs at restaurants, power plants, etc and ultimately decided to take a plunge into acting.

Career

During his struggle, Quinn worked for ad campaigns for brands like Ray-Ban and Pepsi. He also worked for Richard Marx’s song’s music video named, “Satisfied“. His first appearance on TV was as an extra on the Beverly Hills, 90210 pilot. But the notable, speaking part happened as he made a guest appearance on The Outsiders.

He debuted in movies, in 1991, with the movie, Shout, in which he acted alongside, John Travolta and Gwyneth Paltrow. His work in Roseanne, where he played the role of Mark Healy, was also appreciated widely, which was followed by the hit TV series, Covington Cross. Then came Dr. Giggles, with Holly Marie Combs in 1992.

The character of Doyle that he played on the supernatural drama Angel was very well liked by Quinn as he found an opportunity to use his Irish accent, even though his American accent on Roseanne was very well appreciated.

He also worked on video games like Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter (1996), Outlaws (1997) and The Curse of Monkey Island (1997).

R.S.V.P. which premiered in 2002 was his last movie.

Of his role as Doyle on the show Angel, Quinn once remarked, “When you get to speak Irish, you become more at one with yourself, you kind of have a spark when you use it, and I think it’s a great dialect. When they first cast me, I was a pretty avid fan of vampire movies and Celtic mythology, so I was excited to get a chance to walk in Doyle’s shoes and have fun with it.”

His role was actually of an Irish half – human, half – demon, named Allen Francis Doyle. Doyle is actually a hero, even though he appears crooked and bad at times. He is close to Angel and passes him on the cryptic visions he sees through The Powers That Be.

At the DVD commentary of the fifth season of the show, Kane remembered the times the cast had missed Quinn and his own emotional experiences, impersonating Doyle during the fifth season. He also spoke up about how Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter and he would tear up at the time of filming of the show.

Life and death

Quinn used to be passionate about acting, playing drums, collecting Star Wars memorabilia, playing guitar and racing cars. He was also the co-owner of “Goldfingers”, a night club located in Los Angeles, California. He was very close to his co – actors on Angel, especially with Christian Kane, Charisma Carpenter and David Boreanaz. In fact, he was quite a regular guest at the Playboy Mansion along with Kane and Boreanaz.

At a young age of 32, Quinn died on 3rd December, 2002, in North Hollywood, California, where he was visiting a friend. Investigations confirmed, heroine overdose as the cause of death.
